About The Author
When I was 9 years, I came home one day with my school result. As I approached our door, an inquisitive neighbour’s son grabbed the result from my hand, glanced through it and said, “You are so good in maths, you should be an accountant.” I didn’t know what accountants do, but apparently according to this much older boy, one needed to be good in maths, and I was good in maths.
Many years later I went to university to study, you guessed it, accounting. I followed it up with a master’s in economics, because not only was accounting a bit boring, being an economist enabled me to comment with confidence about economic and socio-political issues as though I knew what I was talking about. I could always preface my talk with ceteris paribus, which translate to all things being equal.
After giving God the run around, He finally caught me for good in my first year at the university. I have not looked back since although I cannot say I have not done some really stupid things in that time.
I have since served in diverse roles including as a teacher, banker, bank regulator, financial consultant, and in risk and programme management. I used the word served deliberately because I have always considered where I work as my ministry.
I won’t be the first person to spend most of his adult life toying with the idea of writing, of writing and discarding, and of doubting if anyone would care enough to read my book. At the same time, I think it will be unforgivable not to pursue the childhood dream. Writing is fun especially when you have something to say. But you will be surprised how rubbish your first attempts are. I agree now that every writing is a rewrite. I did edit my first manuscript many times. Actually, I edited until I got mad; until I began to edit the life out of it.
My current focus is Christian non-fiction. I have been lifted by God to raise the banner for His people. In one word my gift from God is the gift of influence. No, I am not a social media influencer. At least not yet, but I love the opportunity to act in the office first popularised by Barnabas in the book of Acts.
I was born in Nigeria but now live in the United Kingdom with my wife Olufunke and our four children. We attend a vibrant multinational and multicultural church, Faith Dimensions Ministries led by Bishop Glen Ferguson where I am part of the prayer team.
